If you follow the coastline, you will find yourself in the maritime cosmopolitan Karfas, just 7km away from the capital. It was named after the Homeric word "karfaleos", which means arid. Located on a hilly coast is one of the most cosmopolitan places in the south part of the island with excellent tourist infrastructures (various hotels, restaurants, rooms to lend and car rentals) and stores for water sports equipment. Its beach is well-organized and persons of all ages hang a nose to its facilities. Karfas and Agia Ermioni are within close distance from the Turkish territory.
