Only 6km from Pyrgi. The legend says that this village was named Fana because this is the place where Dilos was revealed to Lito. It is a place of worship founded during the Bronze Age. Archeological excavations revealed findings that indicate the significance and the prosperity of the area. Vessels, coins, brassy objects and majolica statuettes were found in Kato Fana and are hosted in the Archeological Museum of Chios.
This is where the temple of Faneos Apollon was located, but nowadays you can only see its remnants. In the Early Byzantine times, it was a place of worship and religious tranquility. The churches that were built later had as their base the building material of the derelict temple.
