In Armolia, you will be impressed by the castle of Apolihni or Oria (beautiful). A tradition, dated from the Byzantine period, speaks of a beautiful lady, who lived in the castle and jumped off the wall during the invasion of the enemies to save herself from being a captive. Therefore, the Castle was named after this myth and was built in 1440 by the Genoan Nikolaos Ioustinianis. The inscription has been abstracted from the main body of the Castle and is now incorporated into the old village school. The Castle is of a trapezoid shape and has the basic infrastructures, such as cisterns and towers, which you can also see in other castles of the island.
