A castle that stands since the 6th c. B.C. at the ruins of the ancient Acropolis. Through the passing of the years foreign conquerors (Venetians, Slavs, Saracens, Franks, Turks etc.) left their marks on the castle’s walls. Between the towers and the castle’s bastions lies a male roman statue which according to tradition is ‘Patrinella’; a woman dressed like a man protected the city from the epidemics during the time of Ottoman ruler ship. Today the castle is operating as an archaeological site and hosts different cultural events.
