With an inaccessible peak at the altitude of 2224 meters, Mount Erymanthos stands ready for exploration as it exudes a unique, mysterious beauty that is associated with various myths. There it was that Heracles completed his third tour de force and killed Erymanthio boar and the goddess Artemis used to hunt wild boars and deers. The regions that once goddess was hunting nowadays belong to the Natura 2000 protected areas in order to preserve wildlife. Most of the mountain is covered with fir trees but at lower altitudes there are oak and pine trees. On the slopes of Erymanthos find shelter rabbits, badgers and foxes and golden eagles crossing the air, kaliakoudes, woodpeckers and more. At Erymanthos the scenery changes depending on the season, the winter snow is turned into numerous cool springs among the wildflowers during the summer. With a large network of paths welcomes visitors who want to explore the area. At the foot of the mountain you will find the path 31 connecting Patra to Ancient Olympia.
