On the west side of the island you’ll find a castle different from the others. In the 12th century a castle was built in Vasiliko of Evia, in order to protect this rich village from hostile invasions. It’s been built with medieval style, on a central point of the village. It was partially destroyed, but then restored by an organization protecting byzantine antiquities. Its current condition is excellent. You can enter the castle and watch an audiovisual exhibition about all the castles and towers of Evia, their European prototypes, their history and architecture.
