It could be described as “a small church in the middle of nowhere”. This small and simple church is located in northern Evia, in the direction towards Vasilika, 2 kilometers outside the village Nea Sinasos, in a route full of trees and smells of Greece. A unique landscape is composed of plane trees, cypress trees, small hills, streams and sounds of birds singing. The legend says that once upon a time a shepherd was walking in this little forest, when he suddenly saw something shinning in a bush where he found the miraculous picture of Panagia Ntinous. This is the reason why this little church dedicated to her name was built there. The picture is miraculous according to the tradition, because of an incident that occurred during the Turkish occupation of Greece. A Turkish soldier was about to shoot and kill a Greek, who hid behind the picture to save himself. Then the bullet was ostracized on the image and killed the Turk soldier. You can even see the mark of the bullet on the picture. This little church is worth a visit, to enjoy the beautiful landscape and see the historic picture of Panagia Ntinious.
