Prespes Festival “Prespeia”: This festival is the most important event that takes place in the prefecture. The center of this festival is the small island of St. Achillius and for 23 years every summer for three days Prespes become the center of interest with visitors coming not only from the prefecture but also from the surrounding ones. Every year various artists attend this event and make Prespes scenery even more beautiful with their music.
The cultural events in Amyntaio Municipality, in Meliti and in Lechovo are also another part of the prefecture events. These events also take place in summer and involve music and theater performances and various exhibitions.

“Carnival of Xino Nero”: Events take also place during the winter. In the village of Xino Nero takes place the “Carnival of Xino Nero”. This is a five-day event, famous in the whole prefecture. There are a lot of parties, revival of old customs and float parade.

Potato Festival: This festival takes place every August in the village of Sklithros. A special event organized by the cultural club by offering various dishes with potato, which is the trademark of the prefecture. Of course there is also dance and music, since various artists will entertain you during the three-day festival. During this event various exhibitions take also place.

Fish Festival: The Fish Festival takes place in the coast of Zazari Lake in the village of Limnochori. In the middle of June a great party with traditional music is organized and the cultural club offers plenty of fish and wine.

“Tsiri Tsiri Varvara”: Every year in December 3 in Amyntaio takes place a strange custom. In every neighborhood people make a fire in honor of St. Varvara, who has escaped just before she was about to get burnt. It’s a competition for the biggest fire and in every neighborhood a small feast is taking place. A similar custom is the Night of Fire. This takes place in Florina in December 23 with big fires in every neighborhood in the city and a party that lasts until the fire burns out.
