Verno is the natural border between the Prefectures of Kastoria and Florina and reaches the altitude of 2,128m. Rich flora and fauna and dense forests of oak and beech cover most of its part. The meadows will amaze you. Verno is the habitat of the brown bear and a shelter for many games. Verno has also a rich history as many fierce battles of the Greek civil war took place there. The monument of the victims of the Civil War is located at an altitude of 2,216 m and the view from upthere is breathtaking. At a lower altitude, at 1,800m lays the Vitsi Ski Center.
