The Monastery of Agios Georgios was moved to its present location during the Ottoman occupation, specifically the 14th century, because it was flooded by the waters of the lake. The new monastery was inaugurated in 1754. It features a courtyard, in the center of which is the Church of the Saint, in the basilica style with a dome. According to the inscription, it contains frescoes by Panagiotis of Ioannina, rare in their beauty, crafted in the period from 1762 to 1768. It has excellent an excellent gilded templo of 1762, depicting the Old Testament, and a large wooden chandelier, inspired by the technique of Athos, decorated with small icons. After 1770 the monastery became very powerful through donations, and helped financially the Greek Revolution of 1821.
