This castle was build during the early byzantine era and impresses because of its size and polygonal shape. It is located on the defense line that was built by the Byzantines and connected Larisa with Thessaloniki and Volos through Stomio with the bypass of Tempi. A byzantine settlement was discovered inside. A big part of its walls has been preserved and in particular the eastern and southern side of the castle.
