The prefecture of Larisa is famous for its cheese. The feta cheese of Elassona and Tyrnavos has been certified as Protected Designation of Origin products and is sold all over Greece.
On the other hand, Agia is famous for its apples and the whole prefecture is well known for its vineyards. The vineyard of Rapsani produces the so called PDO Rapsani red wines, while in the vineyard of Tyrnavos wine and tsipouro are produced. Krania, Ampelonas and Elassona have their own production of wines as well.
The visitor must taste the local roast, especially in the villages of the prefecture, in combination with the exceptional wine served in all taverns and restaurants.
