The Monastery of Timios Prodromos was built in 1550 by Agios Damianos the Myrichoviti. The current monastery was built in 1797 in place of the old monastery. Is located on Kissavos at an altitude of 1000 meters, in one of the most beautiful natural balconies of the mountain, 3.5 km west of the Anatoli village, with a lovely view across the plain of Larissa.
The monastery is developing a highly valued and very strong ecological and agrotouristic activity as it seeks harmonious and value of land and nature, being itself a vivid example and a magnet for young farmers who want to switch to traditional ways of farming. It is also a guardian and protector of the area’s environment, since it is contrary to the spraying and the use of chemical fertilizers on the area.
In the monastery you will find an exhibition of ecological products offered for sale, such as milk and dairy products, their derivatives, jams from local fruit, olives and various preparations of mountain herbs.
Near the monastery and just 3km to "Dogantzi" is the hermitage of Agios Damianos, located within a natural hollow at the root of a huge rock.
