Easter: All the residents of the island gather in the square to play the traditional game "bilious".
Early August: Cultural events that include exhibitions, musical evenings and dances.

Traditional fairs

25 March: Celebration at the Church of the Evagelismou in Messaria.
Easter: The feast in the church of Panagia Akathi with traditional food, wine and traditional music, the day after the last Friday before Good Friday.
15 August: One of the greater  traditional festivals of all the islands that includes food, wine and dancing for all guests.
6 December: Festival in honor of St. Nicholas. Pilgrims are going by boat from Mersini to the Chapel of the Lighthouse. At the end of the ceremony, is offered food to everybody.
