Access

By boat: Symi is very close to Rhodes, so the best way to arrive on the island is to go to Rhodes and take a boat from there to Symi, the trip lasts one to one and a half hour. There are also boats from Piraeus but only two times a week and the trip lasts 16 to 18 hours.
If you have your own a boat, there are small marinas on the island, where you can anchor. These are in Gialos, where there is also a replenishment station, in Niborio, in Panormitis, in St. Aimilianos and in Pedi.

By plane: There isn’t an airport on the island but if you want to travel by plane, you can go to Rhodes island that is connected with the most greek airports, as well as with international ones and take a boat from there to Symi, since there is a daily connection.

Local transportations

Symi is a small island and the road network is inadequate. As a result the only mean of transport are taxis. Explore the island on foot and its beautiful beaches by boat.
