The chapel of Agia Agathi is located in the western side of Arakinthos, opposite Aetoliko. In 1824, Alexandros Mavrokordatos gathered here the chieftains to discuss about the ongoing situation and take some decisions. However, the gathering did not arrive to any agreement. At that point a big earthquake struck the town. It was perceived as a sign from Virgin Mary, so they decided to continue united against the enemy, their War for Independence. To commemorate this, on the 23^rd of August there is an annual three-day fest with traditional customs, tabors and zurnas.
