Fish: The word sea bream almost always comes along with “Messolonghi”. It is true that the rich lagoon is offering plenty of food to the fish living inside its natural seawater basins, known as "divaria" in the local dialect. Here sea bream comes with many different names according to it age, like “ligda” when its “teen”. Of course, the taste of the fresh sea bream is unique. Except for sea breams, the local diet also includes basses, mullets and other fishes, as well as eels traveling from the Mexical Golf to end up here, perhaps cooked following one of the many traditional recipes.
Fish row: This luxurious food is not only delicious, but also especially beneficiary. Fish row comes out of large basses, get dried up, waxed and becomes a tidbit. For the lovers of fish row, a thin slice every morning is offering energy and benefits the heart.
Salt: Salt begins its travel from the salt lakes of Messolonghi to all around Greece and foreign countries as well. This is where you’ll find packed and unprocessed salt, as well as Fleur de sel, which is called “afrina” in the local dialect.
