They are two neighboring lakes, 4 kilometers away from each other and about 5 kilometers away from Amfilochia. Their waters come from Acheloos and are used to water the plains around them.
Amvrakia, also known as Limnaia during the ancient years, is a long lake with a 14-square kilometer large surface, while Ozeros is four square kilometers smaller.
Amvrakia belongs to the Natura 2000 network, because of the important number of birds it hosts, like for example mallards, little egrets (Egretta garzetta), grey herons (Ardea cinerea), great cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo) and gallinagos. There are some settlements near the shores, but the lakes have not been touristically developed.
