An island that combines mountain and sea like no other, it’s a natural to be visited throughout the four seasons as each one has its specialty. During this period begin the numerous festivals of the island:
Easter Monday, Procession of the Icon of the Monastery of Sision , Carnival in Argostoli and Liksouri and the traditional local festival in the Monastery of Agrilion in Sami.
In terms of festivals, summer is undoubtedly the ideal time to visit the island.
Cultural and religious events and festivals all over the island start with the first heat wave of the summer and last till the end of August.

The most important are:

11 July: Festival of St. Euthymia, in the village that bears her name
August: The concert at Myrtos beach.
12 August: The festival of Moustalevria (must-jelly) in Argostoli with traditional dances and treats.
15 August: In the village Markopoulo where the famous snakes of Virgin Mary appear.
16 August: Celebrating the island's patron saint, Saint Gerasimos, with processions and great devoutness.

Summer in Kefalonia is very hot, but the experience of an island feast makes it all worthwhile. Kefalonians are born dancers, from the youngest up to the eldest. You’re sure to have a fantastic time if you overcome your shyness, step into a circle and dance, even if you may not know the steps.
