Antimacheia is one of the oldest villages of the island and has the same name since thousands of years. It is located 23 kilometers southwest of the city of Kos, in the same location with the international airport of the island, “Hippocrates”. Antimacheia is a place with rich tradition as far artistic production is concerned, with great achievements in music, dance and songwriting and famous for the organization of many festivals and celebrations every year. It is a picturesque destination, a great sample of the traditional side of Kos, different from the mainstream options of the island. You will see many sights but the most impressive one is the Antimacheiotiko house and opposite to it the traditional stone mill of Papas. The castle of Antimacheia is just some kilometers outside the village. Two feasts are held on the 30th of June, on the celebrations of the church of Agioi Apostoloi and on the 15th of August, on the celebrations of Virgin Mary. The honey festival is organized on the first Saturday after the 15th of August and is a great opportunity to enjoy a variety of delicacies accompanied by traditional music and dance.
