The Alcazar Park has been for over a century a true oasis for the people living in Larisa as it combines the rich natural environment with the dew coming from Pineios river that flows nearby. It was first used in 1887 as a venue for horse shows. The shows took place there till 1937 as it was then used until 1990 as a zoo. Moreover, the September bazaar was organized there.
Nowadays, the Alcazar Park is mainly used by the residents as a place for walking and relaxation. The vast park in combination with the dew coming from the Pineios river and the protection offered by the trees make it an ideal place not only for relaxation but also for entertainment, mostly for families. The park includes an outdoor theatre, café and a mini golf course.
