This area, which was named after the red-colored, medicinal water that exists there, is one of the oldest settlements of the Larisa prefecture and one of the most famous among the locals and visitors.
Kokkino Nero is visited by thousands of Greek and foreign tourists (mainly from Poland and the Czech Republic) as it offers peaceful holidays for families. The beach consists of two coasts: the north coast is covered with pebbles for about a half kilometer, while the southern one is covered with sand and is 1 kilometer long. Moreover, the area offers alternative tourism activities as the Canyon of Calypso is located above the beach. Three waterfalls and a forest full of beech trees can be found in the Canyon, where lots of activities are organized.
Next to Kokkino Nero lies the beach of Platia Ammos famous for its black and white pebbles as well as for the huge platanus trees.
Another beach is Koutsoupia while the none-organized beaches of Tsiligiorgos, Kaluvi, Pigadi and Psarolakkas are a stone’s throw away.
