Traditional events

The night of the Anastasi (Resurrection) in Monastery Toplou: Near Sitia, the night of the Resurrection is celebrated solemnly in Monastery Toplou.
Kiriaki tou Thoma ("Sunday of Thomas", the Sunday after Easter): In Milatos village, near Neapolis, a liturgy takes place in Milatos Cave and, then, a grand feast on the beach accompanied with dancing.
Cultural events "Lato": Starting from the capital of the district, Agios Nikolaos, you will find the cultural events "Lato", which are mounted during summer. These events include theater performances, musical and dancing events with traditional and modern music and exhibitions of folkloric objects.
The Grape Festival: From the 15^th till the 20^th of August, near Agios Nikolaos in Kritsa village takes place the Grape Festival with lots of events, where you can enjoy theater, dancing, singing and the revival of the Cretan traditional wedding.
"Kornaria": "Kornaria" are cultural events that take place in Sitia and the nearby villages during July and August. "Kornaria" include musical events, painting and photography exhibitions, theater performances etc. and the Raki Festival, "Kazanemata".
Kyrvia: Kyrvia are a number of cultural events in Ierapetra during July and August including concerts, art exhibitions, theater, music etc.

Fairs

15 August: Many events are mounted to honor Panagia (Virgin Mary) in the entire district.
29 August: In the Lasithi Plateau, several events are mounted to honor Agios Ioannis.
6 December: A grand festival takes place in the capital of the district, Agios Nikolaos, to honor Saint Nikolaos.
