Ampelos is a village surrounded by uncountable vineyards (“ampelia” in Greek) that gave to the village its name. It is a traditional and picturesque village on the homonymous Mount Ampelos. The village’s name was Nenedes, because of its first inhabitant who was called Nenes; but after 1974 it was established under the name Ampelos. The village is famous for its springs with plenty of waters. From the highest point of the village you can enjoy a spectacular view to the north coasts of Samos and the coasts of Asia Minor. The view and the lush landscape will fascinate you. You would better visit it in the end of July or August to see the process of harvesting.
