Kalathas- A climbing track, next to the sea, in the area of Kalathas in Akrotiri, Chania. The rocks do not exceed 15 meters, but there are all levels of difficulty from IV-VII. There are around 30 routes and several variations of them. It is located 10km outside Chania. Last but not least, all routes have top rope safeties.
Stavros- in Aktoriti, 14 km. from the Chania lies Stavros beach and behind it rises the homonym vertical slope. Six difficulty routes from V-VII with altitudinal variations from 60-80 m are “opened”. There are no intermediate safeties, but only in the relays.
Gkigkilos- The most impressive vertical slope in Crete. Located just above the Samaria Gorge, it can be accessed after a one-hour hiking via the trail, or Xyloskalo. There are around 15 open routes and several variations of them. The levels of difficulty are from V-VII. Due to the dicey ground, it is not equipped with regular safeties. The difference in altitude varies from 400m to 800m. For the fans of climbing, these routes can be done with bivi.
Therissos-14km southwest of Chania is the Therissos Gorge, the climbing paradise in Crete. Along the path to the village and next to the road, there are all routes of V-VIII difficulty levels, most of which are very well-secured.
