Having a rich seabed and innumerable underwater caves to explore, the sea area around the district of Chania attracts many divers. Some caves have paleontological findings and a special permission is probably needed for diving into them. If you are not familiar with this water sport, you can attend classes in some of the existing schools in various parts of the district.
