At the banks of river Ardas, the most important tributary of Evros, you will find the village Kastanies.  With a population of 1.295 inhabitants, it is located in a majestic site that combines a mountain, a valley and a river.  Here the homonym Customs Station is located that unites our country with Turkey.  The area has obtained great reputation because of the festival organized here every summer by the river.  Thousands of visitors swarm to watch the concerts of artists who participate but also to take part in the sporting activities that are organized here.
