In a 14km distance from Soufli and with a population of 387 inhabitants, Fylakto attracts the visitor’s attention since it hosts one of the petrified logs which are scattered across the area, parts of a petrified forest found nearby.  This specific log is 22 meters in length and about 20.000.000 years old. It makes it difficult for the mind of man to travel so back in time and, at the same time; it makes human existence on earth seem as small as a drop in the ocean.
