Arriving at the Bay of Assos, the magnificent view is sure to strike awe into you. Towering, verdant cliffs, just before they join the emerald sea, are stripped of their outer layers, revealing the white rock underneath and producing a unique turquoise. When you have had your fill of this sight, descend carefully into the small hamlet of the peninsula, paying attention to the sharp turns. In the few, very well-kept traditional houses of the settlement live the privileged inhabitants of colorful Assos. The pride of the village is the medieval castle. Refresh yourself with a dip in the turquoise waters of the small bay, and get yourself charged up for the moderately difficult ascent along the meandering cobblestone walkway leading to the castle. The sight from the top will make you feel that you are literally on top of the world.
