Remote from the world, almost hanging off the cliff, its only companions wild rocks and the waves of the sea, the Monastery of Kipouraion is the epitome of what we call asceticism. Though it once housed up to 80 monks, today there is only one, the Deacon Eusebius, who lives far away from the chaos of everyday life, cultivating the lands of the monastery, and heartily welcoming visitors, giving them an audience with the precious relics. You will find it in the westernmost tip of Kefalonia, located on the peninsula of Liksouri just after Havdhata. It is a uniquely beautiful place on the island that offers unforgettable images, especially if you are there at sunset.
