Even if you are not a fan of museums, or your schedule is very tight, this museum is definitely worth a visit. That's because the exhibition halls are shaped in a way that does not even resemble a museum, but rather the inside of a house. Just 100 meters from the central square, the admission is quite reasonable for the variety of exhibits you'll see. Exhibits representing all aspects of daily life of urban and rural regions of the island; traditional costumes, utensils, historical documents and more bring to life a bygone Kefalonia. The museum also houses a remarkable collection of Byzantine icons, as the Christian religion occupies an important place in the lives of the residents; while also admirable are the namesake library archives that are housed in the same building.
Opening Hours: 9:00 to 14:00 except Sunday.
