The monastery is dedicated to the Kimisi (Dormition) of the Theotokos and to the Zoodocho Pigi (Life-giving Spring). It is built at approximately 540m in altitude on a steep rock near Pachia Ammos, and its altar is located inside a cave. The monastery is well protected from external attacks, so it provided shelter to many revolutionaries during the Venetian and the Ottoman Empire. It celebrates its honorific feast on the 15^th of August, when many believers throng to pray and worship.
