Selekano Forest is located north of Ierapetra and is one of the greatest ecosystems of the island and the whole Mediterranean Sea. It is on the Dikti Range and can be accessed by car, where you can also visit the adjacent village for food or refreshing drinks. The forest is covered in pine trees, platans, maples and cypresses, while there are lots of springs. Moreover, it is the largest area of apiarian production in Crete, so if you visit it during the period of efflorescence, you will come across many bees.
