Although, Crete was known for its cypresses since the antiquity, they were ravaged by the extensive logging and the cypress wood of Kritsas is one of the last forests on the island. It is located on the Dikti Range near Kritsas village and can be accessed after a half-hour walking via a trail that starts from Favetoprinos. On the trail, there are elucidatory plates and a pavilion. Apart from cypresses, it is also covered in Kermes oaks, oleasters and maples.
