This is where the initiation of believers in the Kaviria mysteries took place in antiquity, i.e. the glorious annual celebration in honor of the Kaviri, which is inextricably linked with the rebirth of nature and fertility of the land. It is worth mentioning that the archaic telesterion (the place where the rituals were performed) on the southern plateau, only a few parts of which have been preserved, is perhaps the oldest known in Greece, even older than the Telesterion of Solon in Eleusis. Unfortunately it was burnt to the ground probably during the invasion of the Persians in 512 BC.
Opening Hours: Daily 09:00-15:00.
