Within close distance from Anogia and around 52km from Rethymno lies the village of Zoniana. It is built at approximately 640m in altitude on Psiloritis with a population of 1500 inhabitants. Moreover, it is a village with a long history since the antiquity and with great action during the Ottoman Empire. In the village, you can visit the Wax Museum that gives the visitors the opportunity to experience scenes from the Cretan history. You can also visit one of the most known caves of the island, Sfentoni Trypa Cave, which is of natural beauty and located just 1km outside the village. After your perambulation, you should visit the main square for a traditional cup of coffee or raki.
