It is considered to be a very important biotope with lush vegetation, in which the last Bearded Vultures of the Balkans and eagles have found shelter. The gorge starts from Prasses village, located 10 km southeast of Rethymno, and ends in Platanias beach. Due to running waters, the gorge can be crossed only during the summer, when the tall platans will ensure your shade. The crossing of this imposing gorge, with steep cliffs rising on its walls, takes about 3 hours. There are several spots that require your attention, but, at the same time, make the crossing particularly interesting.
