Crossing the Lefka Ori towards the south and after many turns and contemplation of the mountain peaks, one reaches Sougia with its exceptionally beautiful and pebbly beach. Protected between the rocks, with its crystal blue waters and its vast view of the Libyan sea, it has a particularly influential energy. Besides, Ancient Lisos, with the remains of the ancient sanatorium of Asclepius, is located a bit further to the west from Sougia. The location’s therapeutic properties seem to have been sustained even until today. As the sun rises behind the mountain, all the purple and pink shades appear in the sky and when the sun has passed over it the exploration of the area can begin. This includes the surrounding paths, the caves and what is left of the sites of free camper’s that used to come here and enjoy nature and the sea without any dress codes. Sougia is a small village which nonetheless offers many choices of restaurants, cafes, bars and rentals, without troubling the tranquility that the area conveys. Sougia was, and still is, a favored destination.
