The most picturesque and peaceful part of southern Crete is Loutro. Built in a peaceful and protected bay, it has the distinctive feature of being approachable either by a path or by boat from Sfakia, Sougia or Paleohora. So it follows that there are no cars in Loutro to disturb the peaceful landscape. When the village gets quiet after the daily activities, the only thing you can hear is the sound of the sea. Loutro’s church is dedicated to Panagia (Virgin Mary) and is of historical importance since it is where the revolution against the Turks was declared.
There are many places to choose from for food and accommodation.
