Eleftherios Venizelos from Chania, one of the greatest politicians in the History of modern Greece, lived for many years in a mansion in Halepa. This mansion, built in 1880 and renovated on his own initiative, was his basis for over thirty years. Moreover, this beautiful house with its lovely garden, which was tended by Eleftherios Venizelos himself, is operating as a museum and a historical monument since 2002. All the rooms have been preserved intact as they were when the house was inhabited. Furniture dated from the decade 1925-1935 brought from Athens and abroad, which were chosen by himself and his wife Helena, decorative items, paintings, prototypal photographs and valuable personal items adorn the inside of the house. Ticket prices: Full: 2€, Reduced: 1€
Due to conservation works, the residence might be closed to the public, so it would be better to make a call before scheduling your visit.
