The European path E4, as it descends to the South, passes from the Peloponnese in Kissamos in the district of Chania and, then, it forms two routes, a coastal and a mountain one. The first part of the path is the section that starts from Kasteli in Kissamos, where the ferry from the Peloponnese anchors, and ends in the Monastery of Chrysoskalitissa. The trail can be divided into smaller parts, from Kasteli to Sfinari (22.5 km, about 6.5 hours on a passable road with minor gradients) and, then, from Sfinari to Chrysoskalitissa (32 km, 8 hours, an easy route). There is also the special black and yellow signing of the E4 path. (Total length: 56 km, easy level of difficulty, with passable trail and small gradients, around 12-13 hours. The route is ideal for mountain bike or motocross).
