A complex of islands, with that of Gramvousa being the dominant one, floats in the vast sea with an exotic beach complementing them. Pure turquoise waters and white sand make up this exceptional beach on the most northwestern part of Crete. At this transparent lagoon the water is shallow and relatively warm. Therefore, it is perhaps a better choice to visit during cooler months. At the beach there is no shade and no infrastructure, so make sure you are equipped with what you need. You will also need to be equipped with patience if you are going to approach the beach by land. Thankfully, the view from above will be more than enough compensation. Following the signs after the harbor at Kasteli and after 45 minutes on a bad dirt road, you will find yourself at the point where you can leave your vehicle. Enjoy the view and follow the path downhill which will lead you to the beach. Approaching it by boat from Kissamos and Chania is easier and offers a pass by the famous castle of Gramvousa on the way.
