A pleasant suggestion for walking in nature is the green and easily accessible Myli Gorge, just 8 kilometers south of Rethymno. It was named after the watermills that existed and operated there until the 1970s. The hiking route starts from a path that leads into the gorge, under the new settlement of Myli. Its crossing will take you one hour and a half walking and you will be able to observe the abandoned settlement next to the stream, beautiful gardens, the small river that runs through it as well as what is left from the watermills. A taverna is operating in the gorge, which can fulfill all your needs, from simply asking for information to food or water.
