Access

By car: You can reach the prefecture of Rodopi either by your own car or by bus. The capital of the prefecture, Komotini, is 800 kilometers away from Athens and the journey lasts 9-10 hours. However, it is only 300 kilometers away from Thessaloniki and the trip is 2-3 hours long.

By train: If you enjoy the rides through nature, the ideal mean of transport for you is the train. Although the journey from Athens lasts 12-13 hours, the ride is breathtaking.

By plane: On the other hand, if you prefer to get to your destination quickly then the best choice for you is by plane. Although the prefecture does not have its own airport, the airport of Alexandroupoli can easily accommodate you. After your flight has arrived you can go to Komotini either by car or train at only 30-45 minutes, as it is only 65 kilometers away from Alexandroupoli.
