This 13-kolometers long river starts from the top of the mountain range of Rodopi and ends up in the lake Ismarida. It also has two tributaries, Karydia and Kachlas, and is surrounded by dense vegetation.
It is formed by seven torrents and ends up in the Thrace Sea where its river basin is 800 square kilometers big. Along the river you will meet forests full of platanus, willows and poplar trees, while near the estuary there are mainly tamarix and reeds. In its waters and banks there is a small number of birds and fish.
