8th of January-celebration of mami (the midwife): In the villages of Strymi, Proskinites, Xylogani and Nea Petra an exchange takes place: the women take the roles of the men. As a result, men stay at home and do the chores and women take their place at work. If someone does not follow this custom gets punished.

Early April: A resurrection of the battle that took place in 1940 is organized in the fortress of Nymfea. The visitors can make a tour in the grounds of the fortress.

14th of May: The municipality of Komotini organizes different activities about the liberation of Komotini under the name “Freedom of Thrace”.
