In Akrotiri, at the foothills of Stavros Range and 15km from Chania lies one of the most impressive and wealthiest monasteries in Crete. It was built and named after the brothers Ieremias and Lavrentios Tsagkarolous. Moreover, it is said that Ieremias, a famous literary man of the era, designed and built the cloistral facility influenced by the Veronese architect of the 16th century, Sebastiano Serlio. The large church in the center of the monastery is dedicated to Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) and is of special architecture. In the monastery, you can visit the small museum exhibiting heirlooms of the monastery, a library and dome-shaped buildings, where oil and wine are processed and kept in store. You will also find awarded products of the monastery such as oil, wine, vinegar, soaps and honey.
