Another town that although had her name changed, kept her vital importance during the centuries. During the ancient times it was named Pezoule, in the roman-paleochristian era Maximianoupolis, in the middle-byzantine-post-byzantine era Mosunoupolis and finally in the post-byzantine years it was named Messine Kale. It was raided many times during the centuries and in the 13th century A.C the decay started. Nowadays, only a few parts of the city remain. Parts of the wall have been dug up and now you can see the 4-sided towers that date back to the roman-paleochristian period. Moreover, a large temple, probably the diocese of the city, has been found.
