A green oasis for the city of Komotini is the forest of Nymfea, only 4 kilometers away from the city centre. Lots of locals as well as visitors enjoy their strolls in the evergreen scenery with the paved alleys and take a breath in the small kiosks that are scattered all over the forest. If you are interested in sports, you can cycle or play in one of the basketball, volleyball or tennis courts. The forest is located on a hill and offers you a great view of the city and plain of Rodopi as well. The authorities have built a touristic information centre with multiple rooms that can be used for cultural activities and conferences.
