The Folklore Museum of Samothrace was founded a few years ago in Chora, on the initiative of the local authorities, and is housed in a two-storey renovated manor house. Here is hosted a remarkable collection of artifacts that recount the tradition of the island. The ground floor is dedicated to the work of the inhabitants of the island and includes the tools of "Kehagia", as the stock breeder was called, farm equipment and textile tools, as well as a traditional loom with all of its accessories. The first floor of the museum takes the visitor back in time and travels him in old days. Here one sees a traditional Samothracian house, with "mesandra" (the traditional built-in wardrobe), the cast-iron bed, the iconostasis and the wedding case, which could not be missing from the traditional mansions. In the museum are also displayed traditional costumes, textiles and needlework that will definitely impress you.
